Specialist Soils
The Green Estate’s Green Waste Recycling Facility is an award-winning, innovative and regenerative service which turns green waste from landscapers, universities, local councils and domestic gardeners into peat-free compost and specialist soils.
Whether you’re visiting us to drop off green waste, ‘bag your own’ compost or purchase one of our specialist soils – our Green Waste Recycling Facility has a service for you.
All the green waste material that comes onto our Green Waste Recycling site is sorted and processed into a range of valuable quality-controlled materials. Since 2004, it is estimated that the service has taken in over 13,500 tonnes of green waste and sold over 7,000 tonnes of peat-free PAS 100 compost.
Using peat compost leads to the release of carbon reserves and the depletion of critical habitats, however all of our products are peat-free. Additionally, carbon emissions are reduced by having a local service for people to dispose of green waste. It also lowers the volume of green waste ending up in landfill, hence our products are an environmentally-friendly option.

“My customers like the idea that green waste is being sent to a Community Interest Company and then recycled into a product we use in our customer’s gardens.”

PAS 100 Soil Improver
PAS 100 is a Publicly Available Specification for Composted Materials, which is a widely recognised standard within the organics recycling sector.
The soil improver produced on our site is continually monitored to produce a top quality, peat and weed-free, environmentally-friendly, soil improver that meets PAS 100 quality control. Samples are lab-tested for nutrients, elements, contaminations, pH, and levels of beneficial soil organisms that improve soil structure, root growth, and encourage better uptake of available nutrients.
Our soil improver is then available to purchase for collection in loose larger quantities and a ‘Bag Your Own’ facility for gardeners.
