Senior Green and Growing Communities Landscape Manager
One Year Fixed Term with potential to become permanent
Salary: £27,500.00 – £30,000.00 per annum
Working hours: 37.5 hours per week, standard working hours are Monday to Friday, 8.00am – 4.00pm. The role will include occasional weekend and evening works, which is supported by TOIL.
The Green Estate is a community interest company whose purpose is to grow green and resilient urban places for people and nature to thrive. We are one of the first 15 organisations who the King selected for the prestigious King’s Award for Enterprise in Sustainable Development. Our 2030 goal is to become a national urban resilience demonstrator.
This is a new senior manager role at The Green Estate at an exciting time of change. With a new CE, Board and Strategy in place we are seeking an experienced Landscape Manager to head up the Green and Growing Communities team of staff and volunteers. You will lead the development and delivery of the service objective to work with local communities and volunteers in our place to take care of open green spaces to Green Flag standard, grow food, connect with nature and each other and develop the skills and confidence to thrive.
Your role will be a mix of managing existing delivery commitments and working with the Leadership and Heads of Services team to grow our impact, influence and income. You will be both commercially minded and passionate about making a positive difference to local communities and nature. You will be responsible for key local delivery relationships with community, academic, public and private sector partners in particular Sheffield City Council.
You will need to have experience in landscape management and specifically managing parks and open green spaces. You will also need to have a track record in the development, implementation and monitoring against delivery plans. The postholder will also need an understanding and commitment to regenerative approaches and nature-based solutions, with an interest in emerging green policy and financing, e.g. Biodiversity Net Gain. You will have experience of engaging and working with diverse local communities and volunteers, be a confident communicator and enjoy hosting guided tours, workshops and studies across our sites.
You will need to be able to manage budgets and resources to ensure best value and long term investment in our green spaces, ensure that finance and delivery targets are met, detailed work programmes are developed and delivered and that the team are motivated and delivering excellence in line with the Green Estate mission, values and strategy. You will need to have a track record in winning tenders and in implementation, monitoring our delivery and impact and reporting against contract requirements and internal business planning KPI’s.
