Outdoor Practice Learning for Early Years Practitioners

This past academic year Sheffield Manor Lodge Discovery Centre and its lovely outdoor space has hosted an exciting new course for Early Years Practitioners: the Certificate in Outdoor Practice from Outdoors Thinking.

Facilitated by experienced outdoor practitioner Jane Wratten, participants were taken on a joyful hands-on journey in the first Module, getting down and dirty with the essential ‘ingredients’ of successful outdoor play – mud, water, fabrics, natural material. The second Module offered an in-depth exploration of how a child actually learns, and the third Module finished on key organisational and managerial issues that need to be tackled in order to become an excellent Outdoor Practice setting.
