The Green Estate Hosts NHS CAHPO Visit

On 10 April, The Green Estate hosted Professor Suzanne Rastrick OBE, the Chief Allied Health Professions Officer of NHS England, and other Allied Health Professionals from across the Northeast and Yorkshire region.

During their visit, the AHPs went on tours with Alice Jones, TGE’s Head of Green and Resilient Communities, and Owen Hayman, TGE’s Horticulture Innovation Manager. On Alice’s tour, the AHPs were taken to Manor Fields Park, where they got to see the drainage basin that was installed last year and meet some of TGE’s park volunteers. On Owen’s tour, the AHPs were taken to the Pictorial Meadows trial fields and Seaton Crescent – a housing estate where Pictorial Meadows Treasure Chest turf has been installed.

After the tours, Alice and Owen delivered presentations on TGE’s mission to grow green and resilient urban places for people and nature to thrive, and the nature-based solutions TGE delivers through the Pictorial Meadows brand.

Reflecting on the visit, Professor Suzanne Rastrick said, ‘I’m very grateful to Roz Davies and colleagues at The Green Estate CIC and Pictorial Meadows for hosting my visit with AHPs in the Northeast and Yorkshire. It was a fitting and inspirational venue for particular focus on sustainability and social justice from the AHP strategy for England. I’m delighted to see the impact their work is having in terms of community development and community resilience/wellbeing. Their mission to “grow green and resilient urban places for people and nature to thrive” was a fitting basis for the presentations I was proud to hear from AHPs in Health and Social Care on their work in progressing resilience and sustainability, towards our commitment to NHS net zero.’
