Tudor Doctor Day at Sheffield Manor Lodge

Sunday 21 September (10am–4pm)

Being a doctor (or a patient) in Tudor times could be quite gruesome. There were all sorts of horrible diseases, infections and injuries you could suffer from. Mary, Queen of Scots even had her own surgeon, and as time went on, she needed all the tips and tricks to prop herself up.

Now is your chance to become a Tudor doctor for a day through a variety of fun activities. Have you got the skills it takes to help cure your patients?

Activities

● Learn about Tudor illnesses

● Design your own Tudor cure

● Go on a Tudor doctor trail in our grounds

● Craft a plague doctor mask and pomander

Where Can I Eat?

Drinks and snacks will be available at The Discovery Centre, and you are very welcome to have a picnic in our grounds. We ask visitors to take all rubbish home where possible as limited bins are provided.

The Rhubarb Shed Café down the road is open Sunday, 10am to 3pm. You can book a table by giving them a call on 07375 366429.

Tickets

Tickets are £5 per child taking part in activities.

General entry for adults and any children not taking part in activities is FREE, however we encourage donations if you are able to help. Donations help us care for our ruins and preserve this special site for future generations.

Please note tickets are non-refundable. As a community interest company, we appreciate your understanding.
