Monday Night Talk: Mary, Queen of Scots in Sheffield (1570–1584)
By David Templeman (Elizabethan historian, author, national speaker and chair of the Friends of Sheffield Manor Lodge)
Monday 7 July (7pm–9pm)
Our Monday Night series offers a range of inspiring talks by passionate local speakers.
A brand-new talk focusing in detail on Mary’s fourteen years in Sheffield. Previous talks have been on a more national basis, covering the full nineteen years of her English captivity. This talk will focus purely on her time in Sheffield.
We pick out the intricate details of Mary’s everyday life, such as using white wine as a facial toner, her obsession with embroidery, and her relationship with her captors, George Talbot and Bess of Hardwick.
