Meet the Reenactment Groups:

Knights in Battle

Performance Times: 12pm and 3pm

Knights in Battle are a fifteenth century living history group that portray the household of Sir John Howard, who later became the 1st Duke of Norfolk. The group’s members portray all the different roles and jobs within the household, including combat through to artisan crafts such as leather, wood and metalwork.

Lord Thomas Stanley Retinue

Performance Times: 10:30am and 1pm

The Lord Thomas Stanley Retinue are a fifteenth century reenactment group that bring Lord Thomas Stanley, 1st Earl of Derby, and his household to life. They like to give people a real feel of the period through their fully interactive living history camp. Visit their camp to find out about medieval weapons, armour, cooking, crafts and medicine.

43rd Regiment of Foot

Performance Times: 11:30am and 2:30pm

The 43rd Regiment of Foot are a reenactment group that recreate an accurate living history impression of the British Army soldiers and their wives during the American War of Independence and the years leading up to it. They portray a corner of a military camp or barracks in America.

Suðrjórvík

Performance Times: 11am and 1:30pm

Suðrjórvík is a living history group portraying life in early medieval times, which includes peoples known as Saxons, Vikings and Normans.

The Doncaster Waites

The Doncaster Waites are a group of musicians who perform music from the time of the Tudors/Stuarts on copies of original instruments from the early 1600s. Doncaster had a band of Waites from 1457 to 1832, and it is the spirit of these musicians that they try to recreate. They will be performing at various times throughout the day.

Five Rivers Morris

Performance Times: 12:30pm and 2pm

Enjoy traditional Morris dancing with the Five Rivers Morris. Adults and children are both welcome to join in!

10:30am: Site opens

10:30am–11am: Lord Thomas Stanley Retinue

11am–11:30am: Suðrjórvík

11:30am–12pm: 43rd Regiment of Foot

12pm–12:30pm: Knights in Battle

12:30pm–1pm: Five Rivers Morris

1pm–1:30pm: Lord Thomas Stanley Retinue

1:30pm–2pm: Suðrjórvík

2pm-2:30pm: Fiver Rivers Morris

2:30pm – 3pm: 43rd Regiment of Foot

3pm–3:30pm: Knights in Battle

4pm: Site closes

The Doncaster Waites will be performing music throughout the day.

Where Can I Eat?

Drinks, snacks and sweet treats will be available at The Discovery Centre, and you are very welcome to have a picnic in our grounds.

Blooming Dough Pizza and Bradway Quality Meats will also have food stalls onsite.

We ask visitors to take all rubbish home where possible as limited bins are provided.

The Rhubarb Shed Café

The Rhubarb Shed Café down the road will be open from 10am, however we strongly recommend booking a table in advance as it can get very busy.

Blooming Dough Pizza

All of our sourdough pizzas are handmade to order using fresh ingredients.

We only use best quality mozzarella and tomato sauce, and of course we always source local quality produce.

Parking

The address for Sheffield Manor Lodge is 197 Manor Lane, Sheffield, S2 1UJ.

There is free onsite parking at Sheffield Manor Lodge and additional parking at Manor Oaks House.

The Manor Oaks House car park is just down the road near the Rhubarb Shed Café.

Parking is also available along Manor Lane.

Entry Times

Entry times are 10:30am and 1pm. Please aim to arrive at your booked timeslot. Once onsite, you can stay until 4pm.

There will be running activities throughout the day and any performances in the morning will be repeated in the afternoon.
