Job Description

JOB TITLE: Assistant Horticultural Production Manager

RESPONSIBLE TO: Production Manager

RESPONSIBLE FOR: Other staff, assistants, trainees, and volunteers as required


To carry out a range of horticultural production activities that will provide quality Pictorial Meadow (PM) branded specialist seed, seed mixes and turf products that will meet the needs of our customers.


  • Assist the Production Manager in the production and field management of all PM turf production across varied sites.
  • Assist the Seed Account Manager in all aspects of PM seed order fulfillment.
  • Establish and maintain all seed and turf quality control systems.
  • Take a lead role in developing and growing our current small-scale specialist on site seed production operation.
  • Act as one of the PM Horticultural advisors for incoming meadow product enquires.
  • Assist with on-site meadow R+D in the field.
  • Assist at all levels of Meadows Marketing and PR including supporting talks, training, trade shows and production of social media.
  • Ensure that all relevant production areas are welcoming, professional, and engaging.
  • Keep confidential any information pertaining to the recipes, method of mixing, packing and general operations of the company
  • Undertake any other duties, as requested by your line manager, commensurate with the level of the post and the aims of Green Estate Ltd.

Person Specification


  • RHS or environmental qualification to degree level or equivalent in a Landscape or Horticultural subject.
  • Wide practical horticultural and landscape experience.
  • Good plant knowledge and a strong interest in plants, their growth, and characteristics.
  • Experience of building positive customer and supplier relations.
  • Must be able to lead by example, be “hands-on”, practical, and self-motivated.
  • Good technical skills and an ability to develop and manage systematic process
  • Meticulous and highly organize
  • Highly numerate and good data management skills.
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Excellent IT skills especially excel and word.
  • Versatile and Adaptable.
  • Self-motivated and ambitious.
  • Thriving in a team environment and ability to work alone.

  • Full driving license.


  • Commercial Horticultural experience.
  • A science orientated background.
  • Entrepreneurial interests.

  • Familiarization with Sage Financial systems
  • Some experience and confidence with use of social media, PR, public speaking at Trade Shows etc.
