Green & Growing Communities
We work with local communities and volunteers in our place to take care of open green spaces, grow food, connect with nature and each other, and develop the skills and confidence to thrive.

Education & Learning Communities
From KS1 to PhD in collaboration with universities and other partners, we offer inclusive learning pathways and a living lab space where people with diverse backgrounds can learn and share urban resilience, horticultural and heritage skills.

Enterprising Communities
We offer a range of enterprise support and a home for a collective of formal and informal community enterprises who share our values. They grow food and cut flowers, sew Tudor costumes, make furniture, run a café and offer catering, support young people to flourish, and more.

Heritage & Nature Visitor Centre
Visit our heritage and nature visitor centre to play, learn and relax in Sheffield’s fascinating historic gem ‘Sheffield Manor Lodge’ where Mary Queen of Scots was once imprisoned and now cared for by The Green Estate. Open to the public in school holidays and on summer Sundays with a year-round events programme.

Weddings & Parties
Our beautiful venues with a view offer distinctive heritage and rustic spaces with customisable options for weddings to remember and parties for all occasions.

Venue Hire
Our venues offer the feel of an idyllic countryside setting despite only being five minutes from Sheffield City Centre. We provide flexible spaces for:

Nature-based Solutions

Designing innovative and impactful nature-based solutions demonstrated in our place and delivered through Pictorial Meadows.

Through transforming our own place and working closely with Sheffield University and other landscaping industry partners, The Green Estate team have become nationally-acclaimed experts in nature-based solutions and resilient urban landscaping.

Pictorial Meadows
Our visual, ecological and robust Pictorial Meadows were designed in partnership with Professor Nigel Dunnett and Professor James Hitchmough to thrive in challenging and urban contexts. Our premium range, which includes annual and perennial seed mixes and meadow turf, have been used in iconic settings such as the Tower of London Moat.

Resilient Landscaping Consultancy
Our team of experts work with clients across the UK and Europe to advise, install manage and maintain resilient soft landscaping, including ‘Grey to Green’ in Sheffield. They specialise in biodiverse and resilient Pictorial Meadows, Sustainable Urban Drainage Systems, green roofs and rain gardens.

Circular Economy Soils
We accept green waste from across Sheffield and use it to produce PAS 100 peat-free compost and specialist substrates for Sustainable Urban Drainage Systems, green roofs and tree pits.
